Cadence

Show cadence for cycling or running where available.

Cadence data overlay on a workout video

Cadence data is captured from sensors built into cycling power meters, dedicated cadence pods, smart trainers, and wearables. FIT files typically include per-sample cadence fields, while GPX files may contain cadence extensions when exported from platforms that preserve advanced metrics. The overlay displays cadence as a numerical value or as part of a gauge-style element depending on configuration.

Both cycling and running cadence are supported. Cycling cadence is measured in revolutions per minute (RPM), while running cadence uses steps per minute (SPM) derived from footpod, wrist-based, or chest-strap sensors. The widget automatically adjusts labels and scale depending on the activity type detected in the source file.

If cadence values appear missing or inconsistent, verify that the recording device was paired with a cadence sensor and that the exported file includes the relevant fields. Some applications strip cadence data from GPX exports. Sensor dropout can cause brief zero readings, and indoor trainers may report smoothed cadence that differs from standalone sensors.
